How to know Christ
Do you know him?

Do you consider yourself to be a good person?  Most people do.  However, most of us differ as to the definition of "good."  The Bible says that God is good, and the Ten Commandments are His standard of goodness.  So, let's look briefly at part of God's Law:

1.  Have you ever told a lie?  Have you ever lied even once?  All it takes is one small lie to make you a liar!

2.  Have you ever stolen anything that did not belong to you?  The value of the item is irrelevant, you are still a thief!

3.  Have you ever murdered anyone?  God considers hatred to be as murder, so be honest!

On Judgment Day, will you be found guilty or innocent of breaking God's commandments?  God's Law demands justice, and the penalty for sinning against Him is death and Hell.  God Himself made a way where His justice and His goodness could meet.  Jesus suffered and died on the cross to satisfy the Law.  God can forgive us and grant us the gift of everlasting life.

If you realize that you need Jesus as your Savior, it's as simple as 1,2,3 to be saved.

1. Acknowledge that you are a sinner, that you are helpless to save yourself and are in need of God's forgiveness.  The Bible says, "All have sinned and come short of the glory of God" (Romans 3:23).

2. Believe that Jesus died on the cross as your substitute, that He bore your sins and took the punishment that you deserve.  This is important.  In the Bible, "believing" is far more than just intellectually accepting the facts that Jesus died on the cross and rose from the dead.  "Believing," as used in the Bible, means to depend on, to rely on, to trust Jesus completely with your entire being.

3. Receive Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord.  Simply pray this prayer from your heart:

"Heavenly Father, I realize I am lost and need your forgiveness.  I want to turn from my sins and place my confidence and faith in the fact that Jesus died for me on the cross, and that His blood washed away my sins.  I now receive Him as my Lord and Savior.  In Jesus' name I pray, Amen."

If you are sincere, the Bible says you are saved.  "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved" (Romans 10:13).  Begin today to develop a personal relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ by daily reading the Scriptures and praying to God.  May God bless you as you begin your spiritual journey with Him.
